The Energy Industry in Nigeria: Challenges & Opportunities
30 September 2026 · 11:00 WAT · Virtual (Zoom)
A 90-minute webinar on the energy industry in Nigeria, with a panel of operators, a regulator and advisers: oil, gas and the transition; power regulation, distribution and metering; and tax, fiscal terms and capital.
What we discussed
Registrants set the agenda for this webinar, submitting their questions for a panel of operators, a regulator and advisers before the session, with further questions taken from the live audience.
The session was organised around three themes:
• Oil, gas and the transition. Domestic gas supply and pricing, gas-to-power, indigenous operators after the IOC divestments, and new energy strategy.
• Power: regulation, distribution, metering and projects. The Electricity Act 2023, the handover to state regulators, loss reduction, financing the metering gap, and bankable power projects.
• Tax, fiscal terms and capital. The first year of the Nigeria Tax Act, PIA fiscal terms, enforcement and e-invoicing, and where capital is available.
The conversation continues at Energy in Africa 2026, our five-day executive workshop in Nairobi from 30 November to 4 December 2026. See the programme and register.
